Course Description:  From the Ancient Civilizations and the Rise of Empires to Modern Day history we will learn about our world’s history, foods, clothing, music, art, and more. Students will be required to complete work at home along with what we work on in class.

Time:  Wednesdays 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM – ONLINE via Google Classroom (or Zoom)

Cost:  $40 per session (follows FEC’s CALENDAR) [Once registered, invoice will be sent – Cash or Check only please]

Supply Fee:  None

Class Prerequisite:  Student must be willing to read outside of class time and write.

Materials Teacher Will Provide:  homework

Materials Students Must Provide:  Notebook, 2 pencils, and pencil sharpener. All students will need to purchase the Guest Hollow Whirlwind World History https://guesthollow.com/whirlwind-world-history-online-textbook/. The workbook will need to be printed. Parents may choose which additional books to purchase but it will work best if you at least buy the level 1 recommended books.  Some of these may be available through the library or as audio or e-books. Once you have signed up for the course please contact me (Misty) for a discount code to purchase your Guest Hollow curriculum. Supplies for any activities students choose to do will also need to be provided.

Maximum Enrollment:  8

Parent Requirements:  If you’d like your student to be able to claim this class as a credit you will have to make sure your student is doing the days we don’t complete in class. You, the parent, will need to grade their work.  If you need help with this please let me know.

Course Length

What the length of this course is for the school year

  • Session - These classes may be attended for individual sessions. Once you sign up the teacher will keep you signed up. If you are unable to attend the next session please notify the teacher so they may offer that spot to somebody else.
  • Semester - These classes are offered in 15 week intervals. Like the School Year Classes, these classes build on the information that was taught in the previous classes you must join at the beginning of the semester and continue through the 15 weeks. If you are unable to continue you are still obligated to pay for the entire semester as that spot may no longer be filled.
  • School Year - Because these classes build on the information that was taught in the previous classes you must join at the beginning of the year and continue through the school year. If you are unable to continue you are still obligated to pay for the entire year as that spot may no longer be filled.
  • Open - You may join these classes at any time. As a courtesy you are still required to notify the teacher if you will no longer be attending.

The type of viewpoint expressed in this course

  • Christian - Taught from a Christian point of view
  • Secular - Taught from a secular point of view
  • Mixed - These classes use a generally secular curriculum but may be taught by someone with a Christian worldview. For example: Ballet is a neutral class but some of the songs may have Christian lyrics. The teacher may say something like "work within your God-given design"
  • Either - The Guest Hollow curriculums can be customized to include Christian or strictly secular books. When you are purchasing the books, the guide will give you options
