Outdoor Games 3 (2nd-5th)
2nd-5th
Jodi Clark
Course Description: This dynamic and fun class is an opportunity for elementary-aged kids to get outside, be active, and socialize with peers close in age. Students will have opportunities for free play, organized games, and experiential activities.
This is not the class for kids expecting to play traditional competitive team sports or looking for physical education. Instead, variations of tag, sneaking, invasion, or dodging games such as Sharks and Minnows, Keeper of the Castle, or Shipwreck are played. When the snow conditions are right we can build snow forts or sculptures. On occasion the instructor will set up cooperative games to help teach teamwork and self-awareness.
This class is designed to foster cohesion, interpersonal skills, empathy, self-confidence, sportsmanship, and respect. Furthermore, students practice leadership, communication, and relationship skills.
