Middle School Package – Basic Math II (ONLINE)

Course Description: 

BASIC MATH II: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM This middle-high school math course provides students with the continued basic math skills necessary for pre-algebra and pre-geometry. If you have a student that struggles with math concepts or math processes, this class continues where Basic Math I leaves off with discounts and mark-ups. Students will continue to apply learned knowledge and learn ratios, proportions, and percent word problems, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics and probability, and the coordinate plane and functions is for your student. The pace is slow and the weekly homework is manageable. Students will be required to complete weekly homework assignments, weekly quizzes, and 5 assessments. It is imperative that students registered for this academic class have the intention to complete the assignments, attend the online class, can be unsupervised, and participate when necessary. Please, do not register your student if they are unable to make this commitment.

LANGUAGE ARTS: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM This class will provide your student with a complete LA program that will include Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammar Using the Excellence in Writing program, your student will learn the writing process through creating an enhanced version of an original story applying learned grammar and vocabulary. The parts of speech and punctuation will be addressed in the grammar section of the class. Lastly, students will read two classical pieces of literature throughout the year and complete a slide presentation to be shared summarizing the book. Students will be required to complete weekly homework assignments, writing assignments, quizzes, and assessments. It is imperative that students registered for this academic class have the intention to complete the assignments, attend the online class, can be unsupervised, and participate when necessary. Please, do not register your student if they cannot make this commitment.

Time:  12:00-2:00 Monday online

Cost:  2 Classes: $500/year; 1 Class: $290/year; payments due August 27, 2024 and November 5, 2024; CASH or CHECK. An invoice will be sent to you once you are registered. Payment may be mailed to the address on the invoice or dropped off at Cornerstone.

Supply Fee:  $50 for both; $25 for one; one-time, non-refundable fee; OPTIONAL REPORT CARD Fee $25 for one class or $40 for two classes for the year (non-refundable) 

Class Prerequisite: A strong working knowledge of computation skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, & dividing).

Materials Teacher Will Provide:  notes, homework assignments, quizzes, assessments, additional worksheets, and additional help if needed.

Materials Students Must Provide:  Notebook, pencils, folder for assignments, binder to keep notes in, and for quizzes and assessments.

Maximum Enrollment:  5

Parent Requirements:  The parent is the lead homeschooling teacher. Parents are expected to assist their child(ren) in their assignments and ensure that the assignments are turned in on time. Late assignments will not be accepted. Parents will grade the required homework assignments to check for mastery of concepts. The teacher will grade everything else but only those assignments turned in on time. Parents need the ability to print out and scan their student’s completed assignments to return to the teacher.
