Course Description: This comprehensive course is for the student exhibiting weak Language Arts skills in grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and basic sentence structure. Students taking this course will learn several parts of speech, identify parts of speech, basic sentence construction, and the proper use of punctuation. If your student struggles with the parts of speech or is not a strong writer, this class has been offered to provide high school students a “last opportunity” before embarking into high school writing classes. Students will be required to complete weekly homework assignments, take quizzes and assessments. The final assessment is a cumulative assessment covering the entire year. It is imperative that students registered for this academic class have the intention to complete the assignments, attend the online class, can be unsupervised, and participate when necessary. Please, do not register your student if they cannot make this commitment.

Cost: $360/year; payments due August 26, 2024 and November 5, 2024; CASH or CHECK An invoice will be sent to you once you are registered. Payment may be mailed to the address on the invoice or dropped off at Cornerstone.
Supply Fee: $25 for one-time, non-refundable fee; OPTIONAL REPORT CARD fee per year of $25.00 (non-refundable)
Class Prerequisite: Ability to read independently.
Materials Teacher Will Provide: Notes, additional homework assignments, quizzes, assessment, additional work when needed, and additional help.
Materials Students Must Provide: Binder for the notes; pencils; and purchase the Straight Forward English Series All-in-One Master Book by S. Harold Collins

Parent Requirements: The parent is the lead homeschooling teacher. Parents are expected to assist their child(ren) in their assignments and ensure that the assignments are turned in on time. Late assignments will not be accepted. Parents will grade the workbook to check for mastery of concepts. The teacher will grade everything else but only those assignments turned in on time.
