Course Description:
FRACTIONS: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Monday Online
Using a short, but comprehensive approach, this class will provide a no-nonsense, tearless path through fractions, a necessary skill for pre-algebra. It is a four-book series covering fraction concepts, multiplying and dividing, adding and subtracting, and mixed numbers. Students will be required to complete weekly homework assignments, take quizzes and assessments, and participate in class. It is imperative that students registered for this academic class have the intention to complete the assignments, attend the online class, can be unsupervised, and participate when necessary. Please, do not register your student if they are unable to make this commitment.
LANGUAGE ARTS: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Monday Online
This class will provide your student with a complete LA program that will include Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammar. Using the Excellence in Writing program, your student will learn the writing process through creating an enhanced version of an original story applying learned grammar and vocabulary. The parts of speech and punctuation will be addressed in the grammar section of the class. Lastly, students will read two-chapter books throughout the year and complete a book report summarizing the book. Students will be required to complete weekly homework assignments, writing assignments, quizzes, and assessments. It is imperative that students registered for this academic class have the intention to complete the assignments, attend the online class, can be unsupervised, and participate when necessary. Please, do not register your student if they are unable to make this commitment.

Cost: 2 Classes: $500/year; 1 Class: $290/year; payments due August 27, 2024 and November 5, 2025; CASH or CHECK ONLY
An invoice will be sent to you once you have registered for class. Payment may be mailed to the address on the invoice or dropped off at Cornerstone on the following Tuesday.
Supply Fee: $50 for both classes; $25 for one class; one-time, non-refundable supply fee; OPTIONAL REPORT CARD Fee $25 for one class; $40 for two classes for the year (non-refundable)
Class Prerequisite: Ability to read, write, and use a computer for typing and writing assignments
Materials Teacher Will Provide: Both classes: notes, quizzes, assessments, additional worksheets, additional help.
Materials Students Must Provide: Notebook, binder for notes, pencils, and colored pencils. Excellence in Writing Student Resource Book: Student resource book

Maximum Enrollment: 5
Parent Requirements: Parents need the ability to print out and scan their student’s assignments to return to the teacher. Parents will be responsible for grading some of the homework assignments in order to check their child’s progress and mastery of concepts. The teacher will remain in communication with the parents regarding their responsibilities as the class develops. The teacher will grade all quizzes and assessments.
