Course Description: A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world; a biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. The Barna Research Groups’ survey found that only 4% of Americans have a Christian worldview. Even more alarming, only 17% of born-again Christians in America have a Christian worldview. George Barna stated, “Although most people own a Bible and know some of its content, our research found that most Americans have little idea how to integrate core biblical principles to form a unified and meaningful response to the challenges and opportunities of life.” With more than half of all Christians abandoning their faith in college, students must be able to defend God’s Word. No other high school Bible curriculum so effectively prepares young believers to defend a Christian worldview against other belief systems. Understanding the Times is a three-part series. This year we will tackle Understanding the Faith. * Understanding the Faith teaches the basics of the Christian faith and shows students how to defend and promote the biblical worldview against a myriad of detractors. * Understanding the Times surveys today’s major worldviews and teaches students how to identify and counter the bad ideas so many young adults have unwittingly adopted. * Understanding the Culture outlines the key social issues of our time and shows students how to engage their biblical worldview and transform our post-Christian culture.
