Grammar Boot Camp ONLINE

Course Description: This course is for the student in need of Language Arts skills in grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and basic sentence structure.  Students taking this course will study parts of speech, basic sentence construction and diagramming, proper use of punctuation, and editing of their work.  Taking this course will provide an appropriate and thorough review before joining college writing classes. Teacher will grade quizzes and assessments and also provide a syllabus of the lessons covered each week for parents to follow.

Time:  Wednesday; 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM – ONLINE via Google Classroom (or Zoom)

Cost:  $40 per session (follows FEC’s calendar) [Once registered, invoice will be sent – Cash or Check only please]

Supply Fee:  OPTIONAL $25 per year non-refundable Report Card fee – report cards issued twice in 30 weeks.

Class Prerequisite:  N/A

Materials Teacher Will Provide:  Notes, possible additional homework; quizzes, and assessments.

Materials Students Must Provide: Binder; binder inserts; paper; pencil; and, multi-colored highlighter set.

Maximum Enrollment:  8

Parent Requirements:  

  • Purchase All-in-One Straight Forward English Series Master Book
  • Grade student’s workbook using the back of the All-in-One Straight Forward workbook.
  • Provide additional homework for your student for the week.
  • Responsible for assigning a grade to your student if not using the Optional Report Card Service.
  • Assign a high school credit if you feel your student qualifies.
  • If not grading homework or requesting a report card, the student’s grade for the class is the parent’s responsibility.

Course Length

What the length of this course is for the school year

  • Session - These classes may be attended for individual sessions. Once you sign up the teacher will keep you signed up. If you are unable to attend the next session please notify the teacher so they may offer that spot to somebody else.
  • Semester - These classes are offered in 15 week intervals. Like the School Year Classes, these classes build on the information that was taught in the previous classes you must join at the beginning of the semester and continue through the 15 weeks. If you are unable to continue you are still obligated to pay for the entire semester as that spot may no longer be filled.
  • School Year - Because these classes build on the information that was taught in the previous classes you must join at the beginning of the year and continue through the school year. If you are unable to continue you are still obligated to pay for the entire year as that spot may no longer be filled.
  • Open - You may join these classes at any time. As a courtesy you are still required to notify the teacher if you will no longer be attending.

  • Christian - Taught from a Christian point of view
  • Secular - Taught from a secular point of view
  • Mixed - These classes use a generally secular curriculum but may be taught by someone with a Christian worldview. For example: Ballet is a neutral class but some of the songs may have Christian lyrics. The teacher may say something like "work within your God-given design"
  • Either - The Guest Hollow curriculums can be customized to include Christian or strictly secular books. When you are purchasing the books, the guide will give you options
